Kickstride privacy policy
Effective date: October 25, 2026
This policy explains how the Kickstride iPhone app ("the app") handles your information. Craig Holliday ("I") develops and publishes the app. For questions, email support@kickstride.app.
Summary
I do not collect any data from the app. The app has no account, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party code libraries (SDKs). The app keeps your data on your iPhone, and I have no copy of it.
Information I collect
None. The app does not send your runs, your location, your health data, or any other personal information to me or to any other company.
Data the app keeps on your iPhone
To work, the app stores this data on your iPhone only:
- Your runs: the date, the time, the distance, the pace, and the route (if you allow Location).
- Your progress in Road to 5K.
- The interval workouts that you make.
- Your settings, such as the distance unit and the coach's voice.
Your iPhone backups (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer) can include this data, under your backup settings.
Location
If you allow Location, the app uses it only during a run, to measure your distance and pace and to record your route. The app stops using Location when the run ends. If you choose "Always", the app can measure the run and speak the coaching cues while the screen is locked. You can use the app without Location. The app then records only the time of each run.
Apple Health
If you allow Apple Health, the app writes each finished run to Apple Health. It writes these data types:
- The workout (a run, with its start and end time)
- Walking and running distance
- Active energy (an estimate)
- The workout route (if you allow Location)
The app does not read any data from Apple Health. The app does not use health data for advertising or marketing, and does not share it with anyone. Apple Health data is controlled by you and protected by Apple.
Apple services
The app uses some Apple services that work on Apple's systems:
- Maps: to show the map of a run's route, the app loads map images from Apple Maps. Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy.
- Crash reports: if you turn on "Share With App Developers" in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple can share crash and performance reports for the app with me. These reports do not identify you. I use them only to fix problems.
Third parties
The app does not share your data with any third party. It has no advertising, analytics, or tracking code.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it:
- To delete one run, open Progress in the app, touch and hold the run, and choose Delete Run.
- To delete all of the app's data, open Settings in the app and choose "Delete all data".
- When you delete the app, iOS also deletes the app's data from your iPhone.
Runs that the app saved to Apple Health stay in Apple Health. To delete them, use the Health app.
Turning off permissions
You can turn off a permission at any time:
- Location: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Kickstride.
- Apple Health: in the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps (under Privacy), then Kickstride.
Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your privacy rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to see, correct, and delete your personal data. I do not have any of your personal data, so there is nothing for me to show or delete. You control all of the app's data on your iPhone, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date.
